VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL SUMMER 2024 Click on flyer below for more information ST. ADALBERT CEMETERY I am currently considering a proposal for our St. Adalbert Cemetery. Our parish administers the cemetery. The proposal involves transferring the administration of the cemetery to Albany Diocesan Cemeteries (ADC). ADC manages a number of cemeteries in our diocese, including St. John the Baptist and Most Holy Redeemer Cemeteries not far from our churches. We will host a question-and-answer session on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in our St. Adalbert Parish Center. This will be a listening opportunity to hear more about the aspects of a proposed transfer to ADC. Representatives of ADC will be attending this meeting to answer any questions or concerns. I have not arrived at any decision about this proposal; I appreciate your contribution, which is important for me to listen to and weigh. Please mark your calendars to join us for this session. Grace to you, Fr. Frisoni |
![]() Our Pastor's Messages Dear family,
A NEW PARISH SUPPORT GROUP You may remember the special Mass we celebrated this past Lent. For the first time in our parishes, we offered a liturgy of healing for those affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and early infant loss. We prayed for the repose of these souls and the families affected by this loss. We as a Church walk with all our sisters and brothers grieving a loss. The feedback I received after this Mass leads me in prayer to offer a more consistent ministry experience to families who continue to mourn. Next month, I will be leading our first support group meeting for anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant death. Please help spread the word about our first gathering on Tuesday, August 6 at 1:30PM in our St. Paul's Parish Center. I am very pleased to share that Katie Grogan, our Youth Minister, recently completed specialized training from the Institute of Reproductive Grief Care. Katie will be a regular leader of our support group gatherings going forward. Thank you for your hard work and ministry, Katie, to our grieving families. DIOCESAN APPEAL: THANK YOU! Once again, I humbly say, "Thank you!" to all who contributed to our share of the 2023-2024 Diocesan Appeal. As you can see from the numbers, we met our assessments in all our parishes--and this is no easy task. I am grateful for your sacrifices and investment in the future of the Church and in our communities. DIOCESAN APPEAL: ASSESSMENTS? Have you ever wondered how the Diocese of Albany arrives at the figure of our annual share of the parish assessment? If you like numbers and details, you will love this column! Our weekly envelopes in which we support the parish are called, "the offertory." The diocese uses this annual figure, plus other assessable income, and "charges" a percentage of this as the basis. The diocese subtracts from the basis what the parish pays each year for "self-insurance." Self-insurance is the property and liability insurance that we carry, for example, in the event of property issues such as a collapsed roof, God forbid. No matter what the final calculation is, each parish in the diocese has a minimum annual assessment of $5,000. Click here to read the data. You can compare this year's assessment with last year's by checking out our charts on page 2 of the bulletin. Thank you very much for your support, and God's peace to you, Fr. Frisoni |
